Welcome to World-Formanites-Forum

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome fellow formanites to the World-Formanites-Forum. I have created the forum to enable the formanites worldwide to interact with one another and share their thoughts, memories, ideas, news, interests, events, careers, honours and awards, personal and family news by posting on this forum. Anything the formanites would like to share among themselves. The forum is open to all formanites to post their comments.

I really enjoyed being at the Forman Christian College or F.C. College, the most commonly used name to denote the 'royal' college of Punjab, from 1961 to 1965. I can't forget the cool environment in and outside the classrooms. It was said, probably by those who envied formanites, that the FC College was there to enjoy and the Government College was there to learn. But the truth is that FCC probably produced far more legends that any other college in Punjab.

Among the sweet memories I have of the FCC, I remember that we used to have inter-collegiate debates. Kinnaird used to be one of the participating colleges. Our students used to brush up for the occasion by buying attractive clothes, footwear, perfumes and made themselves as attractive as possible. We did not have girl students at the FCC at that time. Probably, it was in 1964-65 that we had a lone girl student.

After doing my bachelor's in arts with Economics and Political Science in 1965, I moved to the Punjab University and did master's in business education in 1967 with 'A' grade in all the 36 courses of the two-year programme, introduced in Pakistan in collaboration with the Indiana University, Bloomington, USA. I set the first-ever academic record of achieving the highest grade-point average and earned the first-ever Punjab University Gold Medal for Business Education.

While at FCC, I started contributing letters to the editors of leading newspapers, starting with 'The Pakistan Times' Lahore and then the 'DAWN', The Sun, The Morning News, and Business Recorder on major issues of concern to people from the various walks of life, especially those who needed support to have their problems addressed. I have used the 'power of pen' for more than 40 years with absolute integrity and unwavering commitment to the cause of the people I wrote for. I also served a score of community welfare bodies, professional bodies, and law and order committees.

I am married with the finest woman I could get (through parents) and together we tried to 'manage' three lovely daughters born in 1977, 1981 and 1982 and two wonderful sons born in 1988 and 1992. So, we have a family of 07 souls; each trying to excel in his or her own way. My eldest daughter has joined the District Management Group (formerly Civil Service of Pakistan). The second one has done an MBA from IBA, Karachi. Third one has passed bachelor's in commerce and is trying to do an MBA. The eldest son is studying for ACCA after his 'A' levels and the second son will be entering school in Sep 2007 after completing his fifth grade earlier and Hifz-e-Quran in 2007.

Among interests and hobbies, I would include the past hobbies of stamp collecting and penfriendship worldwide, movies, attempts at rifle shooting and judo and past and present hobbies of reading and writing, listening to music, mostly ghazals and mystic poetry, travelling, community work and above all writing on national and international public and professional issues in the newspapers and the magazines. I also create and write blogs now in addition to writing in the press. I also write comments and letters in foreign newspapers like The Washington Post and The New York Times.

I am presently self-employed offering consultancy services, research services and e-commerce services to clients around the world. Earlier, I served in key positions in major national and multi-national companies in banking, cigarettes, plastics, auto batteries and paints. I held the positions of the Divisional Head, Director Sales & Marketing and Executive Director (Dy Chief Executive) and Managing Director.

My corporate website is http://www.rmgincorp.com/. If any of the fellow formanites is interested in working with me on any project, he/she is more than welcome to contact me.

Have a wonderful life!
